Safety Training

  • Training for the safe and correct use of shop tools, equipment and facilities will be done only on a "need to know" basis.
  • The University Safety Officer will provide safety training for specific pieces of equipment upon request.
  • Additionally, the Safety Committee will provide training support for the proper use of specific tools, equipment and facilities.
  • Safety references will be assembled as an aid for working safely in shop and laboratory areas. The references shall be made available to all persons using shop and laboratory facilities.

Implantation of Safety Training

  • At the beginning of each semester and the summer session, faculty should notify the Chairman of the Agricultural Engineering Safety Committee of all students or other assistants who need to use shop tools, equipment and facilities.
  • The Chairman will then arrange with the University Safety Office and the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Safety Committee for the appropriate training. A record of training will be maintained by the Safety Committee.
  • Faculty and staff are expected to participate in safety training sessions for all tools and equipment they need to use.
