Tools, Equipment, and Facilities
- No one should use power tools or equipment in the shop unless another
person is in the near vicinity to provide assistance if needed.
- Some specific tools, equipment and facilities are considered off limits
to students and other assistants employed by the Department. A small
sign stating "Authorized Use Only" is displayed on the appropriate
equipment or on the storage cabinets.
- Additional tools, equipment, and facilities are considered off limits
to students and other assistants employed by the Department unless said
person has received specific safety training for the tool, equipment,
or facility to be used.
- Where possible and appropriate, safety instructions and reminders
should be mounted or attached to tools, equipment, and facilities. Appropriate
personal protective equipment shall be provided near each work station,
and should be worn when personnel are working with the various tools,
equipment, and facilities.
- Cleansing and sanitizing of personal protective equipment, such as
eye wear, hearing protectors, etc., to be worn by more than one specific
individual, shall be the responsibility of each person utilizing a piece
of protective equipment.
