Allocation of
Karl A. Snyder Memorial Support Fund

Oversight for allocation of the Fund is provided by the Advisory Board consisting of the department head, club faculty advisers, and the president and vice-president of the ASABE Student Branch. The Board should meet near the beginning of each semester. Annual funds are to be allocated in the follow three areas:

Senior Awards

ASABE Projects
¨
Travel Expenses for
Professional Development and/or Academic Purposes
Outstanding Senior Awards:
This award shall be named the Karl A. Snyder Outstanding Senior Award. Two $500 scholarships shall be awarded to seniors who have met the following criteria:

Student must be
at the senior level graduating in the Spring, Fall, or following Summer of a
given academic year.
¨
Student must be
an active ASABE Student Branch member.
¨
Student must show leadership
qualities of the same magnitude demonstrated by Karl A. Snyder during his
membership in the Penn State ASABE Student Branch.
¨
Student must show leadership
involvement through club activities during their studies at Penn State.
¨
Student must maintain
scholarship excellence, outstanding character, and personal development.
¨
Recipients shall be chosen by a
selection committee consisting of club advisors, department head, and active
junior-level members of the club.
¨
A commemorative plaque will be
established with recipients’ names for each year and placed in a designated
area. In addition, each recipient shall receive a small
plaque
stating the award and year received.
ASABE Projects:
Funding for ASABE projects may include undergraduate research, FE Examination Fee supplements, participation in ASABE competitions such as ¼ Scale Tractor contests, or other ASABE related projects. The projects must support member creativity and objectives of ASABE that model leadership as demonstrated by Karl A. Snyder. Funding amount shall be decided by a committee consisting of appropriate ASABE Student Branch Members, club advisors, and the department head.
Travel Expenses:
Travel expenses shall include travel to National ASABE events, pre-professional conferences, and/or other engineering events to benefit personal development and academic growth. Examples of these events may include but are not limited to include the following: National ASABE meeting, AETC conference, NABEC, and educational field trips.
Allocation of Funds:
Specific amounts allocated to projects and travel will be determined each year by the appropriate selection committee listed above. The first year allocation will consist of $1,000 for scholarship, $500 for ASABE Quarter Scale Tractor Competition, and $1,500 for travel expenses to meetings listed above.
