How to make your gift to
Agricultural & Biological Engineering

Gifts of any size can be added to one of the following previously endowed scholarship funds.

For Undergraduate Students
[ABE Scholarship] Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department Scholarship.
For full-time undergraduates in Agricultural and Biological Engineering or Agricultural Systems Management who have at least 5th semester standing or to University Scholars in either program who have 3rd semester standing. Established by faculty, alumni, and friends of the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering.

[Bartlett Scholarship] Howard D. Bartlett Scholarship in Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
For Pennsylvania residents who are full-time juniors and seniors enrolled in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering major.
Students must have documented financial need, show promise of academic success, be active in student professional organizations, and be interested in the area of natural resources conservation. Endowed by Howard D. Bartlett and his family and friends.

[Beppler Award] David C. Beppler Award in Agricultural Systems Management.
For undergraduate students enrolled in Agricultural Systems Management who exhibit high academic achievement. Endowed by Adesoji O. Adelaja and Zane R. Helsel and their friends.

[Horne Scholarship] Burton S. Horne Memorial Scholarship.
For full-time undergraduate students enrolled in Agricultural and Biological Engineering or Agricultural Systems Management who have at least 5th semester standing. They must have demonstrated academic achievement and documented financial need. Endowed by family and friends of Burton S. Horne.

[Kjelgaard Scholarship] William L. and James F. Kjelgaard Scholarship in Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
For full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering on the basis of their achievement and academic ability. Endowed by William L. Kjelgaard in honor of William L. and James F. Kjelgaard.

[Peikert Scholarship] Frank W. and Jeanette S. Peikert Scholarship in Agricultural and Biological Engineering and Agricultural Systems Management.
For U.S. citizens who are full-time undergraduate students enrolled in Agricultural and Biological Engineering or Agricultural Systems Management and who have at least 5th semester standing. They must be active in the Penn State Branch of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers or the Penn State Agricultural Systems Management Club. Endowed by family and friends of Frank W. Peikert.

[Shute Scholarship] George Shute Scholarship in Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
For full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Endowed by a charitable gift annuity of George Shute.

[Snyder Award] Karl A. Snyder Memorial Support Fund for the ASAE Student Branch.
The purpose of this endowment shall be to enrich College of Agricultural Sciences, The Pennsylvania State University, by providing monies for the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) Student Chapter within the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering in support of projects, member travel, events that support club member creativity in meeting the objectives of ASAE, and for possible student awards.


For Doctoral Students
[Walton Scholarship] Harold V. and Velma B. Walton Doctoral Student Endowment in Agricultural and Biological Engineering.
For full-time graduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the doctoral program of the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering.

For a gift of $50,000, you could endow and name an undergraduate scholarship.


For a gift of $250,000, you can endow and name a graduate fellowship.


For a gift of $2,000,000, you can endow and name a Faculty chair in ABE.

You may work for a company or corporation that will match the gift you, as an employee, choose to give to the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department at Penn State. Please ask your employer if you are eligible for matching funds. If you decide you would like to make a contribution toward any one of the opportunities outlined on this page:

1. Write a check to "The Pennsylvania State University."

2. Include the fund to which you want your gift to be used on the "memo line". If you are contributing toward an existing scholarship fund, simply put the short notation shown in [brackets] to the left of the scholarship information.
